BIOTECH OFFERS FREE KITS FOR SAMPLE COLLECTION AND TRANSPORTATION.
VIALS, CARDS OR SWABS MAY BE USED FOR TESTING. COMBINATION BLOOD
AND SWAB SAMPLES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR ALL DISEASE TESTING (EXCEPT
SALMONELLA). THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR SUBMITTING BOTH A
BLOOD SAMPLE AND A SWAB SAMPLE FROM THE SAMPLE BIRD.
Blood
Vials:
Blood vials allow you to collect blood specimens for identifying
viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic disease causing organisms
found in the blood stream. Additionally, blood vials can be used
for fingerprinting your birds for relatedness and identification,
as well as DNA sexing.
Vent
Swabs:
vent
swabbing is an excellent method for collecting sample specimens
from the cloacal area. Vent swabs are recommended in conjunction
with blood samples for all avian disease testing.
Environmental
Swabs:
Collecting
environmental samples allow you to evaluate possible bacterial or
viral problems in aviaries, nest boxes, nurseries, brooders, incubators,
air-filters, food, cages, countertops, veterinarian offices and
other areas.
